Inclusion Criteria

Patients diagnosed with infusion-induced phlebitis based on the diagnostic criteria in Intravenous Nurse Society (INS) were included in the study [12]. Phlebitis classification was as follows. Grade I: there was pain, redness and/or swelling in the puncture site of the blood vessel, but no cord-like changes and the sclerosis. Grade II: there was pain, redness and/or swelling, a cord-like change in the puncture site of the blood vessel, but no sclerosis. Grade III: there was pain, redness and/or swelling, veins had a cord-like change as well as the sclerosis.

Exclusion Criteria

The exclusion criteria were patients who have muscle atrophy, peripheral vascular disease, history of vascular surgery or rash, skin damage, abnormal blood coagulation, allergies to Sihuang powder or honey, mental and communicating disorders.
