Objective 1 and 2:
Patients who arrive at the Emergency ward with paraquat poisoning (confirmed by a qualitative test) within 24 hours of exposure. Patients will be included above 18 years of age, irrespective of gender, time from exposure, route of exposure (oral, inhalational or direct contact) and type of exposure (suicidal or accidental).
Objective 3:
Patients enrolled in Objective 1 and 2 and expired during hospital stay who are sent for routine post-mortem examination.
Objective 1 and 2:
Pregnant or lactating patients; patients with critical illness(es) such as cancer, patients having history of organ transplantation, patients who are already on immunosuppressants for specific medical conditions, patients exposed to paraquat with other toxic agents, patients referred from primary care and other facilities (after 24 hours of exposure), patients with incomplete data, patients lost to follow-up and patients/relatives/guardians who refuse to consent.
Objective 3:
Relatives/guardian who refuse consent.
