3. Age >18 years
4. Subjective dyspnoea
5. ECOG performance status: 0-3

1. Recent acupuncture
2. Relative contraindication to acupuncture
3. Current use of morphine
4. Untreated anaemia, pleural effusion, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, superior vena cava obstruction or ascites, if treatment appropriate
5. Pregnancy
6. Commenced steroids or changed dose within one week of start of study
7. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy or hormonotherapy in last 4 weeks
