Brief Summary

**A COMPARATIVE CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF NASYAAND UTTARABHAKTIKA SNEHAPANA WITH HRUSWAPANCHAMULA TAILA   IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AVABAHUKA VIS-A-VIS FROZENSHOULDER.**

Sneha is described as the essenceof Purusha i.e, “Snehasro Ayam Purusha: Pranascha Snehabhuyishtaha1â€.In Panchakarma, Snehana can be administrated either as Pradhana Karma (BrumhanaSnehapana) and (Shamana Snehapana) or can be done as Poorvakarma (Shodhanartha Snehapana)before Shodhana Therapy. Brumhana kind of Snehana can be administered as Panartha  and as well as Nasya , which  are found to be effective in  vatavyadhi2.Avabahuka is one among the vatajananatmaja Vyadhi affecting Amsapradesha having symptoms like Shula, Sthamba, Bahupraspandanahara3.Thesesymptoms resembles with the Symptoms of Frozen Shoulder. Frozen shoulder is characterizedby pain and restricted movements of the shoulder usually in the absence ofintrinsic shoulder disease4. The prevalence rate of Frozenshoulder globally is around 2-5%.In Indian population it ranges between 15-25%,among Subjects with Diabetes mellitus 3-6% encounter frozen shoulder5.Contemporary treatment for frozen shoulder includes oralNSAIDS, Corticosteroids, External therapies like Hot and cold compression packs6gives symptomatic relief without targeting the root cause. In classics thetreatment for Avabhahuka includes Nasya and Uttarabhaktika Snehapana7,Swedana8 and Nasapana9. Nasya and Uttarabhaktika Snehapana are the two important procedures which arespecially indicated in Urdhvajatrugata Vatavikaras. Uttarabhaktika Snehapana isa type of Brumhana snehapana. Where administered Sneha immediately after foodgives strength to Urdhvajatru Pradesha. The dose of Bruhmana Snehapana is Alpa matra10,Nasya is the therapeutic procedure in which the administered intranasal drugstrengthens the Urdhvajatru Avayava and eliminate the aggravated Doshas11.Hencethe present study aims to compare the procedural efficacyof Nasya and Uttarabhaktika Snehapana with Hruswapanchamula Taila12 whichis directly indicated in Vata and Kaphanubandha Vatavyadhi. having the propertieslike Madhura, Brumhana and Vata-Kaphahara which counteract the pathology of theAvabahuka Vis-A-Vis Frozen Shoulder.

Inclusion Criteria

• 1.Subjects fulfilling the Diagnostic criteria.
• 2.Subjects between the age group of 25-60 years, irrespective of gender.
• 3.Subjects fit for Snehapana and Nasya Karma.

Exclusion Criteria

• 1.Subjects with the history of fracture and dislocation of shoulder joint.
• 2.Subjects suffering from any other systemic disorders which interferes with the course of intervention.
• 3.Subjects having HbA1c more than 7.65 4.Pregnant women and lactating mothers.
