Inclusion Criteria
1. Male or a non-pregnant/non-nursing female between 20 and 60 years of age irrespective of socio-economic status
2. Subjects fulfilling the criteria for alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
3. Be willing to give informed consent and comply with study procedures.
Exclusion Criteria
1.Current use of any psychoactive medication
2.Subjects in status epilepticus
3.Previous history of any serious somatic disorder like chronic heart failure, chronic renal failure.
4.Previous history of any previous heart disease of clinically significant ECG abnormality like arrhythmias, bundle branch block or QT interval or T wave alterations.
5.Known cases of diabetic complications, uncontrolled hypertension with blood pressure greater than 160/100.
