Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Acute head injury.
  • 2\. Mild traumatic brain injury defined as
  • a) GCS 13 to15
  • b) loss of consciousness for 30 minutes or less
  • c) duration of posttraumatic amnesia of 24 hours or less
  • 3\. Age group of 20 to 60 years.
  • 4\. Lower extremity surgery for trauma.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Associated systemic injury eg.,chest and abdomen.
  • 2\. Patients expected to undergo multiple surgery.
  • 3\. Patients with other systemic illness.
  • 4\. Patients with any contraindication for regional anaesthesia eg.,coagulopathy
  • 5\. The patients of the reginal anaesthesia group in whom the neuraxial block will be
  • ineffective or doubtful will be excluded from the study and administered general
  • anaesthesia.
