Inclusion Criteria

1. Acute head injury.

2. Mild traumatic brain injury defined as

a) GCS 13 to15

b) loss of consciousness for 30 minutes or less

c) duration of posttraumatic amnesia of 24 hours or less

3. Age group of 20 to 60 years.

4. Lower extremity surgery for trauma.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Associated systemic injury eg.,chest and abdomen.

2. Patients expected to undergo multiple surgery.

3. Patients with other systemic illness.

4. Patients with any contraindication for regional anaesthesia eg.,coagulopathy

5. The patients of the reginal anaesthesia group in whom the neuraxial block will be

ineffective or doubtful will be excluded from the study and administered general

anaesthesia.
