The inclusion criteria includes age older than 18; American Society of Anesthesiologists
physical status (ASA) score of 1 or 2; and sepsis or septic shock resulted from secondary peritonitis from suspected or proven colorectal origin needing for abnominal surgery.
Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. A change in baseline of the total SOFA score of 2 points or more represents organ dysfunction.
Septic shock is defined as a subset of sepsis in which underlying circulatory and cellularmetabolism abnormalities are profound enough to substantially increase mortality. Septic shock can be identified with a clinical construct of sepsis with persisting hypotension requiring vasopressors to maintain MAP65mmHg and having a serum lactate level >2 mmol/L (18mg/dL) despite adequate volume resuscitation.
The inclusion criteria includes
age less than 18; American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status (ASA) score more than 3; sepsis or septic shock resulted from secondary peritonitis which in not proved to colorectal origin; sedation state for endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation before general anesthesia; need for sedation state for reintubation and mechanical ventilation within 24 hours after surgery and extubation due to deterioration; and pregnancy.
