Inclusion Criteria

elective abdominal hysterectomy

Exclusion Criteria

a)Uterine malignancies

b)History of allergy or hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, aspirin, NSAIDS OR COX -2 inhibitors

c)Weight < 30 kg

d)Coagulopathies

e)History of gastrointestinal bleed within 6 weeks of study

f)Creatinine clearance <70 ml/min, oligouriaor on dialysiswithin 28 days prior to surgery

g)Patient on Warfarin, lithium or combination of ACE inhibitor and frusemide

h)Other associated illness including neurological, endocrinal, cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, hepatic, psychiatric disorder.

i)Patients on opioids and chronic NSAIDS.
