- •Diagnosis of a moderate or major depressive episode without psychotic symptoms and without suicidality
- •- Minimum age of 18 years
- •- Current inpatient treatment in the open psychiatric ward of the Braunschweig hospital
- •- Ability to understand the study protocol and provide written informed consent after receiving detailed information
- •- Living alone without pets
- •- Staying alone overnight during stress testing in own home

- •- Presence of psychotic symptoms or suicidality
- •- Severe comorbidity that could interfere with the conduct of the study
