This study will include records of patients =18 years and who:
? have been hospitalized (transferred) from emergency or outpatient
departments to an inpatient ward (inclusive of the intensive care unit [ICU])
during the selected periods of enrollment (01 January 2019 – 31 December
2019, and 01 January 2022 – 30 June 2022).
? have received a diagnosis of lower tract respiratory infection (LTRI)
(clinical diagnosis confirmed by radiology X-ray or computed tomography
[CT] scan), inclusive of influenza and COVID-19 pneumonia (the latter,
relevant for the first half of the year 2022).
? have an LTRI diagnosis that is compatible with a community source of
infection before hospitalization as determined by the participating
investigator
Patients with a diagnosis of LTRI could include the following 3 categories:
a) have newly diagnosed CAP during the study period of enrollment with no
history of CAP before the start of the study period of enrollment
b) have a recurrence during the study period of enrollment, of a CAP that
occurred before the start of the study period of enrollment
The date of first admission to the hospital for the above two patient
categories (a and b) during the study period of enrollment is the index date.
c) have a recurrence of a CAP (defined by a time interval of at least one month
from the previous CAP admission) during the study period of enrollment.
For this category of patients, the date of second admission would be
considered as the index date.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method The aim of this study is to estimate the burden of severe CAP (severe enough to

cause hospitalization) in adults in India according to initial state of severity, microbiology, and a comprehensive list of risk factors. The study will cover two

periods, before (year 2019) and during (first half of 2022) the COVID-19 pandemic.Timepoint: The timepoint for the outcome is after data collection. outcomes will be based on data extracted from two observation periods i.e. 2019 and first half of 2022. The timepoint for the outcome is after data collection.
