Patients who are being examined at the ENT University Hospital Oldenburg for a preliminary CI examination
Exclusion Criteria
Patients who are under 18 years old;
Patients who decide against a CI implantation after the CI preliminary examination

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Assessment of listening effort by means of questionnaires (auditory effort questionnaire) and a scaling method (ACALES). The measurement dates are before CI implantation, for the initial speech processor fitting, and 3, 6 and 12 months after the initial speech processor fitting.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Measurement of speech intelligibility using the Freiburg monosyllable test and the Oldenburg sentence test. The measurement dates are before CI implantation, for the initial speech processor fitting, and 3, 6 and 12 months after the initial speech processor fitting.
