ASA class 1(without any comorbid condition) and 2(with controlled comorbid condition) patient undergoing elective general surgeries under general anaesthesia.
Patient who give informed written consent.
Patient unable to understand study protocol or refused to take part in it.
Patient of ASA class 3,4,5.
Patient on beta blockers, antidepressants,anxiolytics, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic.
Patient with physical dependence on narcotics, known drug allergy to dexmedetomidine.
Patient with anticipated difficult airway or those in whom laryngoscopy time exceeded 15 seconds
