Inclusion Criteria

Isolated primary, unilateral reconstruction with a partial meniscus resection of up to one third if necessary; No further interventions on the knee; German speaking patients

Exclusion Criteria

drug addictions; chronic use of analgesics; Patients who have not signed the consent form; known defects of blood coagulation; known cold antibodies; allergies to common analgesics; Other acute or subacute ligament injuries to the knee; Meniscus partial resections of more than 1/3 or meniscus refixations

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th postoperative days: Postoperative swelling of the affected knee: average knee circumference in cm; Measurement of intraarticular effusion at the proximal pole of the patella (recessus suprapatellares) by sonography; Quantity of fluid in the Redon drainage system on the 1st postoperative day; Pain killers consumption; Force measurement according to Janda (Muscle Test System); Measurement of laboratory inflammation parameters: CrP, small blood count/ 7th post-op day:Survey of subjective patient satisfaction (1 = very satisfied to 4 = not satisfied) including questions on previous experience with cryotherapy and complications<br>(Forms: IKDC-2000, KOOS, Lysholm Score, SF-36, Marx Aktivitätsscore)
