Adults and seniors, aged 18 years or over; both sexes; being on mechanical ventilation or being intubated within 48 hours of admission; being receiving or starting to receive enteral nutritional therapy within 48 hours of admission; present a diagnosis that possibly requires enteral nutritional therapy for more than 7 days
Subjected to supplemental or total parenteral nutritional therapy in the initial 7 days; submitted to major digestive surgeries; history of short bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, previous recurrent record of diarrhea; admitted with major digestive bleeds
