Brief Summary

  1. Recruitment ?1306 caregivers were recruited in our program, of which 969 participated in preliminary survey ?969 caregivers were randomized into experimental group(498) and control group(471) - Of 498 caregivers in experimental group, 159 were drop out(lack of time 39%, a change of mind 28.9%,health worsening of beneficiaries 11.3%) and 3 refused the follow-up survey. - Of 471 caregivers in control group, 403 participated in the follow-up survey. ?Total 739 caregivers' survey data were used in statistical analysis - Of 498 caregivers in experimental group, 339(68.1%) completed the program, 336 of whom completed program participated in the follow-up survey. 2) Demographic characteristics of subjects ?Receivers characteristic - The female proportion was 72.6% and 72.5% in the experimental and control group, respectively. - The age group of 75-84 years was highest with 41.7% and 43.4% of the experimental and control group, repectively and the proportion of over 85 years was 30.7% and 26.6%. ?Caregivers characteristic - The female proportion was 74.7% in the experimental group and 72.8% in the control group. - The age group of 45-64 year proportion was highest with 37.2% and 10.7%, and then the proportion of 65-74 years was 35.7% and 30.3%, respectively. - Subject who graduated lower than middle school was accounted for the highest proportion with 56.3% and 53.8% in the experimental and control group and the high school graduates accounted for 30.1% and 31.8%, respectively. 3) Result ?Verifying positive change in between pre and post differences of main index - The health risk behavior such as insufficient rest, irregular exercise and meal, and failure to go to hospital were significantly lower than the control group - The care of burden score was statistically significantly decreases in all groups. · (distribution of ZBI score 088) 46.13 ? 42.63 score in experimental group, 45.89 ? 45.09 score in control group · Decrease of care burden such as insufficent self-time due to giving to receiver, difficulty when with receiver and stress due to giving care with doing other things - The depression such as loneliness and sadness was statistically significantly decreases in all groups. · (distribution of CES D-10 score 030) 11.09 ? 9.91 score in experimental group, 10.88 ? 11.05 score in control group ?Improvement of positive main index such as socail support, positive aspects of caregiving, self-efficacy by providing family caregiver support service - (social support score 07) 3.79 ? 3.96 score in experimental group, 3.90 ? 3.87 score in control group - (positive aspects of caregiving score 044) 29.58 ? 30.69 score in experimental group, 31.58 ? 31.06 score in control group - (self-efficacy score 0~110) 70.67 ? 73.82 score in experimental group, 72.30 ? 72.35 score in control group ?The total qulity of life after the FCSP-LTCI 1 study was increased and the qulity of life such as vitality(VT), social function(SF) and mental health(MH) was significantly increased. - (VT) 38.75 ? 39.85 score in experimental group, 40.20 ? 40.75 score in control group - (SF) 38.96 ? 40.12 score in experimental group, 38.94 ? 38.49 score in control group - (MH) 38.33 ? 38.70 score in experimental group, 38.69 ? 38.74 score in control group ?More than 90% of the participants showed satisfaction, 78.4% of them hoped to participate in self-help meeting and 91.5% of them recommended family caregiver support service to other family. ?There weren't nay problems for 4) The results indicate that the individualized community outreach home based intervention for family caregivers has positive influences on caregiving related burden and depression. The next objective of this project will be to disseminate it into the community centers at national levels.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • ? Beneficiaries
  • \- Must use in\-home care services in Long\-term care insurance
  • \- Must live in the recruiment area
  • ?Family caregivers
  • \- 20 years or older and 85 years younger
  • \- Family member of the beneficiary
  • \- Must live with the beneficiary
  • \- Must plan to remain in the recruiment area for the duration of the intervention and follow\-up
  • \- Must have high burden( having two scores and over for the risk screeining tool)

Exclusion Criteria

  • ? Beneficiaries
  • \- More than three medical hospitalizaitons in past 6 month
  • \- Need acute medical care
  • \- Planned nursing home admission or long\-term care hospital admission in 6 months
  • ?Family caregivers
  • \- Cognitive impariment
  • \- Severe illness(cancer, schizophrenia, etc)
  • \- Participant in other family caregiver support program
