preterm neonates with Respiratory distress within 6 hrs of life

28 - 36 wks of completed wks

wt >800gms

time of presentation to hospital within 24 hrs of birth

Exclusion Criteria

respiratory digress starting after 6 hrs of birth

congenital malformations

chest x-ray showing features other than RDS

Severe RDS
