1.Over 18 years old
2.Hallux valgus with a hallus valgus angle = 20°, IMA = 12°, and incongruent of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
3.A painful bunion and hallux valgus deformity refractory to non-operative management
1) Osteoarthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
2) Diabetes mellitus
3) peripheral neuropathy
4) peripheral vascular disease
5) previous surgery on the ipsilateral ?rst metatarsal, hallux, or metatarsophalangeal joint
6) active or recent infection involving the foot
7) rheumatoid arthritis or other in?ammatory diseases
8) Deformity outside the first ray requiring surgical correction
9) tarsometatarsal instability diagnosed by clinical examination
