Brief Summary

In Prameha all thedravadhatus in reference to kapha from shareera gets excreted through mutra. There is a significant change inphysical constitution, chemical contents and biochemical properties in suchmutra. The abnormal metabolic admixture of dustadosha, pradushtadhatu withmutra is nothing but pradusthita mutra or saama mutra. Therefore there is aextra addition of ama and its constituents to mutra which make mutra turnavila.

Normal value of GFR is 125ml/min. A stepwise increase in nitrogenousconstituents of blood like urea, creatinine etc and other biochemicalparameters like albumin, electrolytes etc also believed to reflectdeteriorating kidney function.

Renal involvement is a common complication and a leading cause of deathin diabetes which is classified under late systemic complications.

In chirakaaleena Pramehi dhatu excreted out with mutra can be consideredas samala mutrata or saghana mutrata which signifies the reduced GFR by kidneyslanding up in many renal dysfunctions.Since Cystatin-C is a small protein whichis produced constantly, freely filtered by glomerulus and also fully reabsorbedand broken down by renal tubules is considered as better marker for GFR thanSerum Creatinine.

In this research study the findings of Cystatin-C will help inunderstanding the relation between duration of Prameha vyadhi and Renaldysfunctions occurring in the same which will help in analyzing the involvementof mutravaha srotas.
