Inclusion Criteria

Diagnosis of amavata:

Presence of sandhishula (pain in joints),

Sandhistabdhata (stiffness in joints),

Sandhishitha (swelling in joints),

Jvara (fever)

Mandagni (lack of appetite).

Diagnosis of Rheumatoid arthritis:

Diagnosis of RA will be on basis of 2010 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classifications criteria.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Patients who have complications of rheumatoid arthritis e.g. Severe deformity of joints ones, pleura-pericardial disease.

2. Association of a joint disease of other origin.

3. Patients having uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and hypertension, active or chronic liver disorders; cardiac problem, history of cancer or lymphoproliferative disease (free of cancer for at least 1 year after carcinoma in situ can be included for study); with active tuberculosis; renal disorders, white blood cell counts less than 3000/ml and platelet count less than 100,000/ml.

4. Patients taking cortico-steroids or other immunosuppressive and biological agents from prolonged period with the history of withdrawn related severe reoccurrence.

5. Patients who have taken (are taking) any type of medicines for rheumatoid arthritis and not ready for the following washout period.

6. Pregnant/lactating women.
