CLINICAL UTILITY OF BOERICKE’S MATERIA MEDICA IN CASE OF HYDRONEPHROSIS.

This is a prospective, single arm, open label, interventional clinical study. Hydroureter and hydronephrosis are common entities encountered in primary care medicine, emergency medicine as well as nephrology and urology practices. Hydronephrosis is defined as dilatation and distension of the renal collecting system of one or both kidneys due to obstruction of urine outflow distal to the renal pelvis (i.e., ureter, urinary bladder, and urethra). Hydronephrosis remains the most challenging renal disorder with a high burden of disease. Symptomatic early-stage hydronephrosis urgently needs to be identified and defined, as efficient early-stage case finding and diagnosis in primary care would enable health-care providers to proactively and substantially reduce the burden of disease through proper management including structured education, prevention of other renal disease like renal cyst, addressing lifestyle-related risk factors for disease progression. The aim of this study is to assess the clinical utility of individualized homoeopathic medicine in the management of cases of hydronephrosis by using Boericke’s materia medica. A total number of 30 patients suffering from hydronephrosis & fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be selected from OPD of SNHMC.Data will be collected on the basis of detailed case-taking from patient , physician’s observation and calculation of Hydronephrosis severity score. Outcome will be assessed at baseline and every month up to 6months.Data obtained after the management of 6 months will be analyzed to draw the inference using appropriate statistical tools.
