This study is designed to determine the effect of doll therapy on the levels of agitation, nutrition, and daily living activities in elderly patients with dementia and agitation.
- Detailed Description
Elderly patients with agitation and dementia incur significant costs for healthcare services. Additionally, it is known that agitation can impose a burden on caregivers and has the potential to cause harm to the individual and those around them. This study is planned to determine the effect of doll therapy on the levels of agitation, nutrition, and daily living activities in elderly patients with dementia and agitation.

- Patients with dementia
- be 65 years of age or older
- having met the DSM-IV standard for dementia diagnosis
- having a moderate dementia diagnosis
- having a severe dementia diagnosis
- having enough manual skills to hold and care for the doll
- visual acuity is sufficient to recognize the doll
- there is no communication problem
- volunteered to participate in the research
- to have the consent of the relatives patients to participate in the research.
- having a mild dementia diagnosis
- the presence of systemic disease in the period of acute exacerbation
- who has a psychological disorder
- elderly people who experienced difficulties after two attempts in accepting a baby and forming a relationship
- elderly people who left the doll after a while despite accepting it
- elderly people who stated that dolls have a bad connotation in themselves.

Group Intervention Description experimental group (severe dementia) doll therapy Doll therapy will be applied to the experimental group 4 days a week. experimental group (moderate dementia) doll therapy The experimental group will receive doll therapy four days a week.
- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method The Edinburgh feeding evaluation in dementia (EdFED) scale (Nutrition) 12 week Two groups of elderly patients with moderate and severe dementia in the middle of the study(1. week-6. week-12. week) "The Edinburgh feeding evaluation in dementia (EdFED) scale', the form will be applied.The rater will assign a score (ranging from 0 to 2) to each of the 10 behaviors according to whether it is observed never, sometimes, or often. These 10 scores are summed, with final scores ranging from 0 to 20. A higher score indicates greater dysfunction. Any behavior that receives a score of 1 or 2 should be addressed in a new plan of care.
Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (Agitation) 12 week Two groups of elderly patients with moderate and severe dementia in the middle of the study(1. week-6. week-12. week) 'Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory'' the form will be applied.In the CMAE assessment, which is a Likert-type scale, each item scores Decently between "1-never" and "7- several times in an hour". A total score of 32 is taken as the basis for the evaluation of the scale. A minimum score of 29 and a maximum score of 181 are taken from the scale.
Katz Daily Life Activities Scale (Daily activities) 12 week Two groups of elderly patients with moderate and severe dementia in the middle of the study(1. week-6. week-12. week) 'Katz Daily Life Activities Scale'' the form will be applied.If the patient can't do the activities at all, 1 point is given if he does it with help, 2 points and 3 points if he does it independently. The scale score is obtained by summing the scores obtained from all items. The score range of the scale is between 6 and 18. Decembers. December December December The score range of the scale is evaluated as "dependent" if it is between 0 and 6 points December, "semi-dependent" if it is between 7 and 12 points December and "independent" if it is between 13 and 18 points december.
