60Y to 79Y (—)
Sex
Female

Inclusion Criteria

  • age between 60 and 79 years old; diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis by a medical doctor; with history, physical examination and radiographic findings; Radiography in the last 12 months showing grade 2 or 3 osteoarthritis (OA) based on radiographic classification

Exclusion Criteria

  • use of a pacemaker and unstable heart conditions (coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis); neurological or cognitive disorders; participation in another physical activity program in addition to the activities of the Associação de Idosos do Coroado (Assic) or physiotherapeutic treatment in the last 3 months; not being able to walk without assistance; skin lesion at the site of application of neuromuscular electrical stimulation; have contraindications clinically determined by a medical doctor to participate in the experiment; previous musculoskeletal surgery or joint injuries other than knee osteoarthritis
