This study will provide the information how many mothers get influence by the social media to purchase and selection of food for their children.

Study Overview

Brief Summary

Aim: To evaluate the impact of social media on food selection and purchase by mothers with children aged 5-12 years.

Objective:

  • To evaluate the use of social media and other internet sources use by mothers.
  • To identify the factors in purchasing particular food product for their children by using FCQ (Food choice questionnaire)
  • To evaluate the child’s eating pattern by using FFQ (Food frequency questionnaire)
  • To assess the association between mothers social media usage and food consumption of a child

Material and Methods:

  • This is a cross-sectional study which aims to investigate the impact of social media on food selection and purchase by mothers with children aged 5-12 years.
  • It will be done by using Food Choice questionnaire for evaluating the food purchase behaviour of mothers, Food frequency questionnaire will use to evaluate the child;s eating pattern and self made questionnaire for evaluating the social media usage of mothers.
  • This study will conduct across the Thane district.
  • Participants will be mothers of children aged 5-12 years
  • The Questionnaire will be divided in 4 sections
  1. Anthropometric measurement
  2. Social media usage (Through various research)
  3. Food purchase and selection (FCQ)
  4. Consumption of food by the children (FFQ)
  • Research type- Quantitative Research
  • Research design- Cross sectional study
  • Sample method- Non- Probability convenience sampling
  • Target group- Mother of children aged 5-12 years school going in Thane dist.
  • Sampling size- 200 mothers

Hypothesis:

There is no impact of social media on food selection and purchase by mothers with children aged 5-12 years.

Inclusion Criteria

  • •All the mothers of children aged (5-12 years) school going Mothers who are living in thane district.

Exclusion Criteria

  • •There is no other age group of mothers except 5-12 year old children Mothers who do not use social media.

Outcomes

Primary Outcomes

This study will provide the information how many mothers get influence by the social media to purchase and selection of food for their children.

Time Frame: At baseline

This study will reveal the use of social media and weather its using for the increase in the nutritional knowledge of mothers on basis of which they select or purchase food for good health of their children.
