Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •expected mechanical ventilation for \>72 hours on a interdisciplinary intensive care unit
- •qualitatively independent before illness
Exclusion Criteria
- •contraindication for bedside ergometer MOTOmed
- •weight \> 150kg
- •preexisting neuromuscular / neurological disease with enduring functional limitations
- •former hospital stay of more than 10 days
- •limited therapy because of expected poor outcome
- •inclusion in other intervention study
- •admission diagnosis that makes a walking test at hospital discharge impossible
