The aim of this research is to contribute to the nursing and medical literature by examining the validity and reliability of the English-language "APA 5 (Acute Pain Assessment Tool)" in Turkish.
详细描述
This research will be conducted methodologically to adapt the "APA 5 (Acute Pain Assessment Tool)" scale, developed by Kim et al. (2024), into Turkish and to test its validity and reliability.
Patients forming the sample will be reached in the recovery unit of the operating room of a hospital in Türkiye where the research is planned to be conducted, and data will be collected through face-to-face interviews. The data will be analyzed using the SPSS software package. In the validity-reliability analysis, linguistic and content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and correlation analyses will be used. Since the scale has 5 items, the sample size should be 50, which is considered 10 times the number of items. The sample for this research will consist of at least 50 people.

- •Undergoing general anesthesia,
- •Not having a serious psychiatric diagnosis
- •Giving written consent to participate in the study

- •Patients who received spinal anesthesia,
- •Patients who were transferred to units such as intensive care after surgery will not be included in the study.
- •Patients under 18 and over 65 years of age.

This form has been prepared in accordance with the literature. The form includes information on the patient's age, gender, marital status, education level, smoking and alcohol use, presence of chronic diseases, type of surgery undergone, ASA classification, and a Numeric Analog Scale that evaluates pain on a scale of 0-10.
APA5 (Acute Pain Assessment Tool):

This form is the Turkish version of the tool developed by Kim et al. (2024). This tool is categorized into behavioral (facial expression, body movement, and verbal response) and physiological sub-areas (changes in heart rate and blood pressure). It consists of five questions, and the response types for each question are 0 (none), 1 (moderate), and 2 (severe). The total score obtained from the tool is between 0-10 points.
