Inclusion Criteria

All adult patients (>= 18 years) being posted for major surgeries (clean surgeries such as hernia repair, cesarean section for cephalo-pelvic disproportion, tubectomy) performed in departments of general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology would be included in the study after obtaining well informed written consent.

Exclusion Criteria

Patient posted for emergency surgeries and patients declining to give informed consent would be excluded from the study. Patients with pre- existing infections, anemia, diabetes and immunosupressed patients shall also be excluded.
