1. ASA (American Society of Anaesthesiologists) physical status I / II who are to undergo major orthopedic surgery (total hip replacement, total knee replacement, fracture of hip).
2. Patients expected blood loss is greater than 750 ml but less than 1500 ml.
3. Pre operative haemoglobin is more than 12 g/dl.
1. Patients with history of ischaemic heart disease.
2. Patients suffering from renal or hepatic insufficiency.
3. Patients currently on anticoagulant therapy.
4. Patients suffering from active systemic infections.
