Individuals at minimum age of 18, giving informed written consent, having a one-sided lateral epicondylitis (LE) with local pain in the elbow region for more than 4 weeks and positive pain provocation by resisted wrist extension at evaluation visit (Cozen´s test) with a NRS of 4 or more
Prior acupuncture treatment with press tack needles
History of major elbow injury or surgery
Complex regional pain syndrome of the hand or forearm
Other disorders possibly influencing existing elbow symptoms
Cervical neuropathy, paralysis or neurological changes of the affected upper limb
Fractures or open wounds at the acupuncture application sites
Mental disorders possibly affecting the examination
Inflammatory or infectious arthritis
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Noncompliance with the research protocol
Taking pain medication within 24 hours before treatment
Having corticosteroid injections at the elbow within 4 weeks preceding the study.
