1.Patient between the age group of 18 to 65 years.
2.Fulfilling the criteria for Schizophrenia.
3.Duration of illness less than one year.
4.Should not have received more than one antipsychotic in past.
5.Patients with IQ in normal range.
6.Patients and informants who are willing and consenting to participate in the study.
1.Patients having comorbid medical conditions like seizure disorder, heart conduction defects, history of agranulocytosis or TLC <3500/mm3.
2.Patients who fulfil the criteria for TRS (treatment resistant schizophrenia).
3.Patient with past h/o poor response to clozapine or risperidone.
4.Patients with pre-existing diabetes mellitus.
5.Patients with chronic medical illness.
6.Patients with neurological disorders-head injury, tumours, movement disorder.
7.Patients who are lactating or pregnant.
8.Patient should not have comorbid substance dependence except nicotine
9.History of agranulocytosis or thrombocytopenia with Clozapine.
10.Patients or informants refusing to participate in the study.
