Inclusion Criteria

Inclusion criteria for children and their parents include <br>(1) children aged six to twelve years; <br>(2) children with a diagnosis of asthma from physicians (International Classification Diseases, 11th Revision codes CA23) (World Health Organization, 2019); <br>(3) children who are required to use controller medications (e.g. inhaled corticosteroid) every day; <br>(4) children and parents who can communicate in Mandarin, and parents who can read simplified Chinese.

Exclusion Criteria

Exclusion criteria include <br>(1) children with oxygen-dependent conditions or diagnosis of developmental disorders, congenital problems and mental disorders; <br>(2) parents with a score of 20 and above on the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 or 15 and above on the General Anxiety Disorder-7, indicating severe symptoms of depression and anxiety that may require clinical interventions. These parents will be excluded from the study and referred to a mental health centre in Chengdu; <br>(3) parents with a diagnosis or history of diseases that can cause cognitive impairment, such as mental disorders and neurological disorders; <br>(4) ongoing participation in other psychosocial interventions for asthma management.
