简要总结

Title A Quasi-Experimental Study to Assess the Impact of Family-Centered Care Intervention on the Practices and Attitudes of Nurses and Primary Caregivers in Pediatric Surgery at AIIMS New Delhi.

Purpose The study aims to evaluate the impact of a Family-Centered Care (FCC) intervention on the practices and attitudes of nurses, as well as the attitudes of primary caregivers (parents) in the pediatric surgery ward.

Background Family-Centered Care is a collaborative approach to healthcare that emphasizes partnerships between healthcare providers, patients, and families. Despite its proven benefits, FCC is not widely implemented in Indian pediatric surgery settings, leading to gaps in family involvement, communication, and caregiver satisfaction.

Objectives

  1. Assess the impact of FCC intervention on the practices and attitudes of nurses.
  2. Evaluate the impact of FCC intervention on the attitudes of parents.
  3. Correlate nurses’ practices and attitudes regarding FCC.
  4. Identify associations between demographic variables and the impact of FCC intervention.

Methodology

Design: Quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study without a control group.

Setting: Pediatric surgery ward at AIIMS New Delhi.

Participants: Nurses and parents of hospitalized children meeting the inclusion criteria.

Sampling Technique: Total enumeration sampling.

Intervention: Nurses will receive FCC-focused education sessions, checklists, and posters to reinforce principles of FCC.

Data Collection: Sociodemographic data, FCC-related practices, and attitudes will be assessed using structured tools before and after the intervention.

Significance This study addresses the limited implementation of FCC in Indian pediatric surgery units. By enhancing FCC practices, it aims to improve the quality of care, family satisfaction, and outcomes for hospitalized children and their families.
