Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Diagnosis of Mood disorder such as Depressive episode currently in remission/ Recurrent depressive disorder (RDD)/ Dysthymia/Bipolar disorder in remission (all according to ICD\-10 criteria, diagnosed clinically)
  • Drinking alcohol in the last month
  • Providing written informed consent
  • High\-risk drinking as detected by Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) score 8\-19 (8\-15: hazardous drinking; 16\-19: harmful drinking)
  • Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) \< 14
  • Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) \<7
  • Age: 18\-65 years

Exclusion Criteria

  • Subjects with severe communication difficulties (language problems, deafness)
  • Subjects with intoxication or severe withdrawal at time of assessment (will be
  • approached later on again if they are willing)
  • Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) \<8 or \> 19
  • Other substance user (except smoking)
  • Studies in alcohol treatment settings
  • Uncooperative or unwilling to participate in the study.
