Inclusion Criteria
patients with GI cancer scheduled for surgery, at least four weeks time from inclusion to GI surgery, age = 18 years, signed informed consent
Exclusion Criteria
unable to perform physical examination and exercise sessions, pregnancy, participation in a structured strength training program, unable to understand and communicate in German
