older persons (aged over or equal 60 years) diagnosed with schizophrenia have routinely visited the psychiatric clinic, have not had medications changed for at least 6 months, possess at least 6 natural teeth, are able to brush their own teeth and well cooperate with dental treatment. The elders must have Barthel Index of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) score over or equal12. The elders have a score of the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) to measure the severity of schizophrenia lower or equal 36. The caregivers must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum experience of 3 months in caring of the schizophrenia elders. They must have a score of cognitive screening test using Thai Mental State Examination (TMSE)over or equal 23
Elderly schizophrenic patients Will be eliminated from research when people who need to receive antibiotic prophylaxis to prevent infective endocarditis or have severe oral lesions such as severe fungal infection, have lesions suspected of being necrotic or bleeding gums without brushing teeth, which may have a blood disorder. In this case, they will be advised to see a dentist or doctor for appropriate treatment,unattended
caregivers will be eliminated from research when have a psychiatric disorder
