Dutch Iliac Stent trial: COVERed balloon-expandable versus uncovered balloon-expandable stents. A prospective, randomized, controlled, triple-blind, multi-center trial comparing PTFE-covered balloon-expandable stents versus uncovered balloon-expandable stents in patients with advanced occlusive disease of the common iliac artery in terms of morphologic, clinical, and hemodynamic outcome after a 2-year follow-up.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Age over 18;
  • 2\. Symptomatic, atherosclerotic lesion of the common iliac artery, either a hemodynamically significant stenosis with a length of more than 3 cm, or an occlusion;

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Stenosis with a length of less than 3 cm;
  • 2\. Presence of a metastatic malignancy, or other disease that limits life expectancy to less than two years;
