- Brief Summary
Tittle of the study : preoperative gastric volume estimation in diabetic vs nondiabetic patients undergoing elective surgeries.
Participant will be recruited according to inclusion criteria. Preoperatively after 8 hours of fasting , gastric volume estimation will be done with a USG machine ,then patient will be provided with 200 ml of plain water orally and repeat USG will be done after 2 hours. gastric volume will be estimated and compared between diabetic and non diabetic patients. the expected outcome of the study will be gastric emptying will be delayed in diabetic patients due to autonomic gastropathy and it can leads to increased chance of pulmonary aspiration perioperatively in patients undergoing general anesthesia.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method residual gastric volume will be assessed and compaired between diabetic vs nondiabetic Patients after 8 hours of fasting. residual gastric volume will be assessed after 8 hours of fasting and after 2 hours of drinking of clear liquid study will assess wheather diabetis will cause delaying of gastric emptying time. residual gastric volume will be assessed after 8 hours of fasting and after 2 hours of drinking of clear liquid
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method relationship between glycosilated hemoglobin, duration of diabetes and gastric emptying in the diabetic population, to assess wheather there is any relationship when higher the value of HbA1C and long duration of diabetes with delaying of gastric emptiying time relation will be assessed in patients with history of diabetes more than 5 years and
