A clinical trial to study the onset of action and duration of pain relief for two local anaesthetic drugs,bupivacaine and lignocaine which are used in nerve blocks for patients undergoing upper limb surgeries.

Inclusion Criteria
Patients of ASA 1 and 2, undergoing elective or emergency procedure for upper limb surgeries at or below the elbow.
Exclusion Criteria
1.Patient refusal for the block
2.History of bleeding disorders
3.Local infection at the site of block
4.Pre existing neurological deficit
5.Respiratory compromise
6.Known allergy to local anaesthetic drug
7.Patients in whom the supraclavicular sono anatomy is not clear

Name Time Method 1)Time taken for Complete sensory block in al 4 nerves Median,Radial,Ulnar & Musculotaneous NerveTimepoint: Perception of sensation to ether soaked cotton was graded on a 3 point qualitative scale and will be assessed in every 5 min interval. <br/ ><br>2 - Perceives both touch and temperature, <br/ ><br>1 - Perceives only the touch but not the temperature, <br/ ><br>0 - Perceives neither touch nor temperature. <br/ ><br>Score of 0 in all the four nerve distribution areas was taken as time to complete sensory block. <br/ ><br>
