简要总结

Spinal Cord Injury SCI is a debilitating neurological condition causing significant motor sensory and autonomic dysfunctions impacting 6.2 million people globally. SCI disrupts motor signals affecting voluntary movement and locomotion. Central Pattern Generators CPG regulate complex behaviours including as locomotion  mastication respiration defecation  micturition  and movement. Physiotherapy intervention including resistance training electrical stimulation and activity based training aim to improve muscle strength and locomotion. However, autonomic nervous system ANS dysfunction is often neglected affecting cardiovascular thermoregulatory and other essential systems. This oversight contributes to delayed and incomplete recovery highlighting a critical gap in management strategies. The study aims to investigate ANS dysfunction and its modulation to improve functional outcomes and quality of life for individuals with SCI

入选标准

  • ASIA Impairment Scale B to D Individuals with traumatic incomplete SCI for a minimum of 6 months Both males and females Individuals with Autonomic Dysfunction affecting multiple systems including cardiovascular gastrointestinal genitourinary thermoregulatory and psychological domains Individuals who will be willing to participate and able to give informed consent.

排除标准

  • Individuals with other neurological and orthopedic conditions such as peripheral nerve injury brachial plexus injury cauda equina syndrome head injury or osteoporosis Individuals with cognitive impairment MMSE score of less than 24 Individuals who have experienced major surgery or trauma during the past 6 months Individuals with metallic implants in their body Individuals who are susceptible to autonomic dysreflexia Musculoskeletal injury affecting the lower extremities that may impact locomotion Uncooperative individuals Pregnant women.
