The adjusted caprini score is a useful measure for preventing venous thromboembolism
- Conditions
- Diseases of the circulatory system
- Registration Number
- KCT0007804
- Brief Summary
When the ERAS protocol was used for patients with colorectal cancer as perioperative care, the VTE risk was lower than that estimated by the Caprini score. Therefore, in this case, the usage standard for anticoagulation could be relaxed. In particular, the incidence was slightly higher in the elderly group, but there was no statistical significance (p = 0.064). Considering that age is a risk factor for major bleeding, these criteria for anticoagulation should be relaxed, even in the elderly.
