简要总结

Empathy allows healthcare providers, particularly nurses, to understand patients’ emotions and deliver compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining professional balance. It is also essential in nursing management, enabling leaders to support and motivate staff by understanding their feelings and needs. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of empathy training on nurses’ empathy and compassion in the care of critically ill patients. A quasi-experimental, two-group pre-test post-test design will be employed. The study will measure and compare nurses’ empathy and compassion levels before and after the intervention in both experimental and control groups, examine the relationship between empathy and compassion, and explore associations with selected sociodemographic variables. Empathy will be assessed using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy (JSE), and compassion in care will be measured using the Compassionate Care Questionnaire for Nurses. The study is expected to provide evidence on the improvement of empathy and compassion following the intervention, thereby contributing to enhanced care for critically ill patients.
