The following variables are expected to explain the uptake of ORS/Zinc: <br/ ><br>o Motherâ??s knowledge level regarding use, benefits and other effects of each treatment. <br/ ><br>o Total cost of treatment in seeking treatment for diarrhoea. <br/ ><br>o Price sensitivity of mothers to ORS and Zinc. <br/ ><br>o Accessibility and availability of ORS and Zinc to mothers. <br/ ><br>o Perception regarding the effectiveness of ORS/Zinc in treating diarrhoea. <br/ ><br>o Peer effects <br/ ><br>Timepoint: 13 Aug 2013-10 Nov 2013

â?¢ Provider perspective <br/ ><br>o Their knowledge about use of Zinc and ORS in diarrhoea in children <br/ ><br>o Training received on treatment of diarrhoea using Zinc and ORS <br/ ><br>o Prescribing practices for Zinc and ORS and the factors influencing it <br/ ><br>o Supply availability of Zinc and ORS <br/ ><br>o List of public sector (owned and supported) healthcare facilities within a 5 km radius of the study area and private sector facilities within the study area and an understanding of the availability of ORS and Zinc. <br/ ><br>Timepoint: 13 Aug 2013-10 Nov 2013;â?¢ Motherâ??s decision-making power in the household in seeking healthcare for the child. Particularly, identify the role played by: <br/ ><br>o Peer effects <br/ ><br>o Education of mother <br/ ><br>o Work status of mother <br/ ><br>o Mothersâ?? status in the household.
