- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Assess the time to the first repeat of a severe asthma attack; the number of severe asthma attacks in 12 months; asthma control score (ACQ-6 <1.5); direct health costs for patients and the public health system; knowledge about asthma; proper use of inhalation devices; frequency of hospitalisations; frequency of visits to emergency units; treatment adherence. As an evaluation method, we will use standardised questionnaires applied by a trained researcher who was blind to the intervention via periodic telephone contacts (a total of 8 contacts). Outcomes will be analysed using absolute and relative numbers and measures of central tendency.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Assess whether there was a recurrence of a severe asthma attack after randomisation (binary outcome); the number of severe asthma attacks during follow-up. As an evaluation method, we will use standardised questionnaires applied by a trained researcher who was blind to the intervention via periodic telephone contacts (a total of 8 contacts). Outcomes will be analysed using absolute and relative numbers and measures of central tendency.
