Inclusion Criteria

•caries-free, sufficently treated teeth
•periodontally healthy conditions, i.e. no periodontal treatment need (PSI/PSR score maximum 2, gingivitis)
•at least 20 remaining teeth
•gender male or female, age between 18 and 30 years
•smoker or non-smoker
•ability to give informed consent
•voluntary participation

Exclusion Criteria

•age <18 or >30 years
•impossibility of oral examination caused by high mortality
•presence of general disorders: diabetes mellitus, insufficiently controlled hypertonia
•immunosuppressed participants: organ transplant, rheumatoid arthritis, further autoimmune diseases (chronical bowel diseases)
•participants for which an endocarditis prophylaxis would be necessary because of a heart disease (heart valvule prosthesis)
•presence of hepatitis A, B, C, TBC, HIV
•participants with renal insufficiency
•participants with epileptic or neurological disorders
•addicts
•known intolerance against ingredients of the used toothpaste
•pregnancy
•presence of periodontal treatment need (PSI/PSR >3)
•participants with clearly compromised muskolosceletal system (missing fine motorical skills)
•medical or dental background (student, physician/dentist, jobs from dental or medical area)

papilla-bleeding-index (PBI) at each investigation time point with a periodontal probe (PCP 15, Hu-Friedy, Chicago, IL, USA) and marginal-plaque-index (MPI) at each investigation time point visually
