Inclusion Criteria

patients aged 18 years and older; of both sexes; at least six upper anterior teeth free of caries and restorations on the vestibular face; at least one central or canine incisor showing coloration A2 or darker, evaluated in comparison to a visual value-oriented color scale of the teeth.

Exclusion Criteria

users of fixed orthodontic appliances; patients with periodontal disease; pregnant or lactating women; severe intrinsic stains on the teeth (spots on the use of tetracycline, fluorosis and depolluted teeth); consuming any Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant drugs; using desensitizing dentifrice and participants with previous history of SD or any associated pathology (bruxism, gingival recession; non-carious lesion with dentin exposure).

expected outcome 1: decrease of absolute risk of dental sensitivity for office bleaching using 40% hydrogen peroxide was evaluated through two scales for pain assessment: the Verbal Evaluation Scale and the Visual Analogue Scale, from a variation of at least 37% in measurements between the control and experimental groups. The evaluations were realized from January to April 2017.<br><br>;found outcome 1: no significant difference was observed in the intensity of dental sensitivity in the comparison between the group (p = 0.37), evaluated through two scales for pain assessment: the Verbal Evaluation Scale and the Visual Analogue Scale, from a variation of at least 37% in measurements between the control and experimental groups.
