Inclusion Criteria
: ICU patients having high tidal volume of
>8ml/kg during current pressure support ventilation and
continuing to have high tidal volume >8ml/kg during
pressure support of 6cm H2O
Exclusion Criteria
: VAS score >4 , RASS >+2,
Temperature >102degree F,
HCO3 <15,PaCO2 >50mmHg,P/F ratio <150, pregnancy and
lactation, contraindications to lumbar epidural catheter.
