1. Gestational hypertension- Hypertension after 20 weeks of pregnancy for the first time in thepresent pregnancy, in the absence of other causes of elevated blood pressure (BP) (BP >140/90 mmHg measured two times with at least of 6-hour interval) without proteinuria.
2.Preeclampsia- Gestational hypertension with proteinuria (urinary excretion of >=0.3 g protein/24 hours specimen or 0.1 g/L).
3.Eclampsia- Preeclampsia complicated with grand mal seizures and/or coma
1. Patients with essential hypertension.
2. Patients with hypertension before 20 weeks of gestation.
3. Patients with Diabetes mellitus.
4. Hazy media/ media opacities preventing retinal examination.
5. Preexisting renal disease.
6. Active retinal diseases which could interfere with diagnosis.
