All children from one month age till 18 years age on mechanical ventilation in the first three days of mechanical ventilation
Premature birth with gestational age corrected for postconceptional age less than 40 weeks,
Chronic respiratory insufficiency with prior ventilatory support longer than 5 days
Tracheostomy, Suspected bilateral diaphragm paralysis congenital or acquired damage to the phrenic nerve,Immediate postcardiac surgery period
Expected death in the next 24Â h, or a limitation of life support treatment, Children heavily sedated and paralysed due to severe underlying lung condition (severe PAH, those on ECMO, severe traumatic brain injury)
Inability to trigger the ventilator from any other cause
