- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method •Hand hygiene compliance, measured by means of direct observation according to the WHO method (200 indications per observation period; a minimum of 30 observations per indication according to the WHO model „5 moments of hand hygiene; observation of a minimum of 6 persons; observation within 5 consecutive working-days; use of a standardized observation protocol) at baseline (t0), towards the end of the intervention (t11) and a follow up one 1 year after the intervention (t23).<br><br>•Alcohol-based hand rub (AHR) consumption, obtained by the hopsitals’ controlling and measured every quarter as AHR consumption in ml per patient day at baseline (Q1) and towards the end of the intervention (Q3).<br>

Name Time Method •Incidence of hospital-acquired infections, measured by means of the national Hospital Infection Surveillance System (Krankenhaus-Infektions-Surveillance System - KISS), at baseline (Q1) and towards the end of the intervention (Q3).<br><br>•Incidence of multi-resistant pathogens, measured by means of the national Hospital Infection Surveillance System (Krankenhaus-Infektions-Surveillance System - KISS), at baseline (Q1) and towards the end of the intervention (Q3).<br><br>•Perception of ward’s safety culture, measured by means of an anonymous individual questionnaire at baseline (t0) and at the end of the intervention (t12).<br><br>•Perception of individual skills and abilities with regard to hand hygiene, measured by means of an anonymous individual questionnaire at baseline (t0) and at the end of the intervention (t12).<br><br>
