Inclusion Criteria

Persons with Dysarthria post TBI

Persons with Traumatic brain injury

Confirmed diagnosis of dysarthria by a qualified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Age between18-65 years, of both gender groups

Persons with intact comprehension skills

Ability of the participant to respond to basic yes/no questions verbally.

Persons were at least three months post injury.

Persons without Dysarthria post TBI

Persons with Traumatic brain injury without dysarthria component confirmed by SLP

Age between18-50 years, of both gender groups

Persons with intact comprehension skills

Ability of the participant to respond to basic yes/no questions verbally

Persons were at least three months post injury

Communication partners of Persons with TBI

Any individual closely associated with the patient, preferably a family member.

Knows the patient before their injury since at least 12 months before injury.

Aged above 18 years

Kannada as the first language and language of communication

Person with minimum five years of education

Able to read and understand the questionnaire in either Kannada / English

Exclusion Criteria

Persons with TBI

Persons with cognitive-linguistic deficits on ACE-Kannada or WAB â?? Kannada

Presence of mild cognitive impairments, or subtle word finding difficulties

Persons with premorbid history of alcoholism/drug abuse / psychiatric conditions / medical conditions such as heart diseases, carcinoma or other chronic illness which may otherwise impact communicative effectiveness and interferes with the assessment procedure

Persons with any associated conditions such as hearing impairment, visual impairment

Presence of speech disorder prior to TBI

Persons with non-traumatic brain injuries such as stroke or degenerative conditions

Communication partners of Persons with TBI

Person with any cognitive impairment or sensory deficits

History of speech-language inadequacies.
