Brief Summary

The title of present research is Assessing the effect of self- management education on quality of life of patients with diabetes type 2.<br /> Background: education is a fundamental and important issue to achieve optimal quality of life in diabetes and one of the most effective factors in the quality of education, the choice of appropriate methods of educational. On the other hand, focusing on patient's education can facilitate the quality of life desired by them. This study with purpose assessing the effect of self- management education on quality of life of patients with diabetes type 2 was carried out.<br /> Methods: This study was a clinical trial on patients with type 2 diabetes was conducted at Shahroud Emam Hossein Hospital diabetic clinic in which 98 patients with type 2 diabetes through randomly divided into control and intervention group. Before the intervention, and two months after, diabetes quality of life brief clinical questioner was completed by patients. Intervention based on self-management education in the axis of diet, exercise, foot care, medications and blood glucose self-control was implemented for the experimental group and the control group received the routine training. To analyze the data, chi-square tests and t-test was used.<br /> Finding:The demographic point of view no significant difference between the two groups before the intervention (p> 0/05). And the quality of life before intervention was not significantly different between the two groups (p> 0/05). Inclusion Criteria

Patients who can understand and state Persian language; a definitive diagnosis of diabetes (type II) given by a doctor endocrinologist; similar research has not previously participated; there is a possibility of direct contact with the patient's home; disease is not known psychological and psychiatric drug use is not effective.
Exclusion criteria: For some reason the patient needs to be hospitalized or emergency intervention so that the conditions of work with the researcher to los; during the study, the disease progresses in a manner that cannot work or if the patient dies; patients with physical limitations that prevent her colleagues is new.
